Ketones are found in diabetic patients or patients with fasting.
Ketone bodies consists of ketones,acetone and acetoacitic acid, and beta- hydroxybutaric acid.
Ketones are present in the urine when threshold level of ketones exceed the normal level in the blood.
NORMAL Normally ketones are not found in the urine.
When positive the result are listed as follows:
Small < 20 mg/dL
Moderate 30—40 mg/dL
Large > 80 mg /dL
